Starting Annual Gross Salary:?RMB 139,378 (before tax and employee social insurance?contributions; employer social insurance contributions are paid on top of the gross salary; salary is non-negotiable)

**This anticipatory competitive staffing process will be used establish pools of fully or partially qualified candidates for similar openings at the same level with various tenures, including indeterminate (permanent), term (temporary) and emergency (temporary) at the Embassy of Canada in Beijing which might arise following the completion of this selection process. If the selected candidate is already an active Locally-Engaged Staff (LES) employee, the pool may also be used for assignments or acting appointments. **
Summary of Duties:
Provides administrative support services to the consular and/or passport program and/or citizenship in a mission.?This includes:
- Processing passport and citizenship applications;
- Serves the Canadian public, ensuring only complete passport and citizenship applications are accepted, collecting passport and consular fees;
- Manages incoming communications for the Embassy of Canada, forwarding to the correct division as appropriate;
- Responds in writing or by telephone to queries regarding Canadian consular, passport and citizenship services based on standard templates and responses;
- Advises guard service on consular and passport client access to the premises as required;
- Maintains and updates information in systems and spreadsheets;
- Performs other tasks as required.

This position is open to applicants residing in China at the time of appointment who meet all essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Essential Qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience. Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.??

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree?from a university, OR an?acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience
Language:
- Intermediate to advanced level of English
- Intermediate to advanced level of Mandarin
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year recent* cumulative experience working in client service, including telephone contact, in-person services, or in-writing services;
- Minimum of 1 year cumulative experience in providing administrative support such as managing calendar and correspondence, review of documents, and organizing travel logistics.
*Recent is defined as during the past five (5) years.
Rated Requirements:
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview online, in-person, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to perform translation and interpretation from English to Chinese and vice versa

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Working ability in French
- Working in a diplomatic mission or international organization?
- Experience in providing consular services
- Experience in working in a call centre
- Experience using an integrated information or data management system to accomplish work-related tasks?
Operational Requirement:
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as required, sometimes on short notice??
Conditions of Employment
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization:?Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period. The Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens
- Security screening:?Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
- Other conditions of employment:
- Passport Certification - undergo and succeed the Passport Certification within 6 months of appointment.
