Project Overview:
The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and
commissioning of 3 new bucket-wheel reclaimers including associated structural, mechanical, electrical and communications services. The works at the OEM facility includes the fabrication, surface treatment, assembly and off-site commissioning of the machines.
The Project also includes the design and construction of associated off-board scope including bulk earthworks, civil infrastructure, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the functionally safe operation of the new reclaimers.
Job Summary:
As Mechanical Engineer\Inspector, you will be embedded into a balanced machines supplier OEM office you will develop, administer and possess responsibility for project mechanical assembly and quality control. You will have technical responsibility to verify mechanical installation in compliance
with the project drawings and customer engineering standards and specifications.
Major Responsibilities:
· Interprets customer design criteria and specifications for the mechanical installation in the machines and ensure these are included in the assembly procedures and ITPs.
· Assist the OEM with review of ITP and procedures related to mechanical installation works.
· Review of vendor equipment manuals and documentation and ensure the OEM is storing, installing and commissioning the equipment in accordance with manufactures instructions.
· Quality assurance oversight and inspection of the mechanical assembly works.
· Verification that suitably qualified and experienced workers are used for the works.
· Witness of testing and review of test reports.
· Oversight of the disassembly and packing of mechanical equipment for shipment.
· Implements quality control procedures and establishes detailed schedules for onsite inspection activities.
· Determines requirements for, and may direct preparation of, technical and administrative documents and reports.
· Liaison with the project mechanical team (Perth or Site) on the mechanical assembly works.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· A recognised degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
· Progressive work experience, including engineering, assembly commissioning and inspection
of balanced machines, preferably Bucketwheel Reclaimers.
· Knowledge of fabrication and assembly practices of bucket wheel reclaimers and associated equipment.
· Technical knowledge of bulk materials handling balanced machines engineering design to relevant Australian Standards (including AS4324.1), 3D models, Inventor and Navisworks, as well as DEM and conveyor design software is advantageous.
· Experience with hydraulic drive systems is advantageous.
· Fluent in Chinese Mandarin and English languages
· Good communication skills
Additional Information:
This position has responsibilities that will be discharged in an OEM facility (workshop and Off-Site assembly site) as part of the fabrication and assembly stage. Exposure to changing environmental construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at
heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, and work in inclement weather., Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
