Role Purpose:
The Senior Merchandiser manages all aspects of production to ensure timely delivery and achievement of business objectives. This role also supports the buying department with costing, sourcing and salesman sample delivery.
Impact: Expectations in the role
Bulk Production
- Oversee product setup and trade agreement generation in D365 each season.
- Collaborate with the Planning and Buying teams after buy meetings to review factory loadings, analyze MOQ or surcharge issues, and update the greige log.
- Ensure all purchase orders are raised promptly in D365 for Bangladesh and Chinese suppliers, meeting required handover dates and negotiating with factories as needed.
- Keep buy minutes and greige log updated after each buy cycle, communicating clearly with Buying and Fabric teams.
- Manage the critical path for suppliers in Bangladesh, China, and Cambodia, coordinating with the QC team to ensure on-time delivery.
- Attend weekly critical path meetings to discuss production issues and escalate as necessary.
- Attend weekly import/planning meetings, ensuring the intake tracker is updated with delivery schedules and communicating delays and solutions early.
- Maintain delivery-on-time (DOT) metrics, review monthly figures, and set supplier targets.
- Issue any Claims relating to production issues, ensuring suppliers agree costs. Ensure timely renumeration of Claim with import department.
Production Planning
- Support the buying team with planning the buy calendar and factory loadings ahead of meetings.
- Liaise directly with factories to ensure efficient capacity planning. Manage factory loadings.
- Work with the Fabric Merchandiser and buying team to ensure greige availability for production.
Costings
- Assist the buying team with carryover pricing and pricing comparison sheets. Requesting, monitoring quotations and generating targets all within scope.
- After Pricing handover at start of season - manage in season cost changes (surcharges/MOQ/fabric price changes etc) co-ordinate with buyers and negotiating with factories.
Salesman Samples
- Maintain awareness of salesman samples and provide support as required
- Monitor DOT performance
Ethical
- Stay up to date with supply chain audits
- Ensure supply chain compliance with annual declarations and terms of business.
- Support the buying team in sourcing new factories that meet ESG standards.
Trips
- Travel where necessary to visit factories and foreign offices
- Assist QC in any trip preparation for factory visits if any needed
- Collate Garment POD’s and GSB (Gold/Solver/Bronze supplier performance) for buy trips
Systems
- In depth understanding of Dynamics (D365) system and updates. Responsible for ensuring tickets effecting bulk order raising and monitoring are raised and followed up
- BI reporting – awareness of relevant reports and how BI can impact reporting on KPI’s.
- Awareness of PLM system and relevance to role for managing supplier quotations, tracking sample approvals and future adaptations for reporting.
- Continual review of systems and processes to ensure systematic and efficient use of tools available

Other Significant Role Requirements & Technical Knowledge: (Please bullet point all necessary, fields can be added or removed where required)
Industry Understanding & Involvement Degree or equivalent in fabric/product related subject
Strong industry knowledge, ideally working with overseas offices and brands
Experience Significant experience managing production and critical paths.
5+years experience working as a Merchandiser, Production Controller or Production Manager or equivalent.
Experience working with overseas offices or brands preferred.
